Hypothyroidism and working out?
I’m in my 20s and just received a letter from my doctor about recent blood tests saying that they suggest I have hypothyroidism. He’s calling me back in a few weeks for more tests.
So I’ve been reading up on all the basics. I do have most of the symptoms. I’m always very tired and cold, low body temperature, muscle aches and cramps and so on. Working out exhausts me but I still force myself to do it regularly.
I have a normal BMI (is that unusual?), but do have weak core muscles and associated back pain that I haven’t been able to strengthen much even with regular training including pilates and weights. I’m strong in my arms & legs, but the weakness in my back and abdomen make exercising them difficult. Is this from the hypothyroidism? Has anyone seen muscle improvement after beginning treatment?
And are there any exercises I can do at home to better strengthen them? (keeping in mind that I’m sit-up challenged

good question. i,m on synthroid, as i have 1/2 of a thyroid. i,m good on my meds, and work out five days a week. i get blood tests twice a year, as my calcium uptake has to be checked.i go to the local fitness center, and use machine weights. i never do abs, as i,m still recovering from hernia surgery in sept.
